Where a broken target was found and when

For every broken link or media file, Scanfully keeps track of the pages that use it and when it found each of them broken. You see both on the Content screen.

The Content screen groups references by target: a broken file or link appears once, however many pages use it.

  • The Used column counts the references to the target.
  • The Referenced from column shows the first page that uses it, and “and 4 more” when there are others.
  • Click the target to open its details: a table with every page that refers to it, with the page title and path, the link text or alt text, and an Edit page button.

Seeing every page at once tells you how far the damage goes, and fixing the target itself (for example by restoring a deleted file) fixes every page in the list. A shared report and the CSV export list each page and target as a separate row.

  • First found: when Scanfully first found the reference broken. The target’s first found date is that of its oldest reference.
  • Last checked: the most recent crawl that confirmed it is still broken.

The table shows “found 11 days ago” under each target, and the details show the exact dates and times for the target and the date for each page. Together, they tell new problems from long-standing ones: a target first found yesterday likely comes from a recent change, while one first found months ago has been broken for every visitor since.

When a crawl finds that a reference works again, or that the page no longer uses it, it leaves the report. If it breaks again later, it counts as newly found.

The status of a target is the status of its most recent check. If pages got different answers for the same target, the details show the status for each page.
